Career Story (1)

Discover Saranya's 16-year career story at Soliton, from Intern to Senior Delivery Manager, as she talks about acing remote work, balancing home and office, and what she looks forward to at Soliton. Read on to know more…

Early days at Soliton…

I interned at Soliton and joined work right after my graduation. I took a great sense of pride in my first assignment because I had figured things out by myself, and it got me a lot of praise (that too on my birthday!) What I absolutely will not forget is the phrase “baptism by fire”, where a client implied that I passed through some unfamiliar and tough terrain but delivered delight in the end.

Some good and not-so-good habits over your 16+ years at Soliton…

A good habit, I’d say, is Project Management. This skill has seeped into my personal activities too, especially when I need to plan and organize family trips. Another one, although brief, was I removed all office -related apps from my phone.

A good and bad point would be being busy or preoccupied all the time. I’ve realized that I can’t sit idle, and I don’t like the feeling where there’s nothing to look forward to – at work or in life.

Acing remote work for almost 14 years now…

Initially I was concerned about the long-term effects of remote work and the value I could bring through this. But at one point, I had no choice but to manage a small team to get the project going. The early success that this brought, made me realize that remote management was possible. From then on, there has been no looking back.

The secret to balancing work and home…

It sure is difficult. I wouldn’t put it any other way. I ensure that I am around for smaller things like receiving my kids from school. These add up and help them understand that I’m trying my best to keep the balance. But honestly, there is no true balance. Do one thing at a time & do it well! My kids have accepted this, but they’ve also learned to negotiate when I’m in a meeting hoping I’d say “yes” to everything!

Looking forward to…

I look forward to enabling an environment where Solitons can bring out their best every single day. I hope to create a place where other Solitons can script rewarding career journeys and be contented.
